LOOKING FOR: Digital Video Camera
We’re on the hunt for a digital video camera that some of you may have and may no longer be using. Given that many people rely on their cell phones for photos and video, it is possible that a digital video camera might be on the top shelf of your closet and not being used. Mr. Shoemaker would like to have one for use with our learners along with our recently acquired green screen. If you have one that you’re willing to part with, please send Mr. Shoemaker an e-mail.
Parent-Teacher Interviews
The portal through which you can make appointments for parent-teacher interviews is now open. These are set for Thursday, March 28, 2019. School closes at 11:00am on this day.
2018-2019 Yearbooks
In an effort to encourage online ordering for our yearbook we are not sending home flyers this year; however, if you would prefer to pay by cheque or cash, simply ask your child’s teacher for a paper copy of the order form and return it to school as per usual.
The online process is simple and the cost for a yearbook is $20. The order site is ybpay.lifetouch.ca and our school Yearbook ID Code is: 11980219. Deadline for orders is March 22, 2019.
School Development Surveys
It’s time for our annual school development surveys. Each year, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, administers surveys to learners, teachers, support staff, and families. The results of these surveys factor into our annual school development process (strategic planning). Surveys for our staff and learners take place at the school; however, our families are encouraged to click here to provide input. If you have more than one child at the school, you are encouraged to complete the survey with your oldest learner (at BCE) in mind. And, as always, please let us know if you have any questions.
KES Breakfast Club
Volunteers with our KES Breakfast Club would like you to visit the Coleman’s Facebook page (on Facebook it’s “Colemans”) and scroll down to their “Like and Share” contest where the prize is a $500 for the winning school which will be used by our Breakfast Club should we be selected as a winner.
MakerSpace Grant
Our Library Learning Commons has been awarded a grant of nearly $2500 to cover the costs of several key elements of a robust MakerSpace. These items include a 3D printer, a Cricut Maker, and a Cheticamp Rug Hooking Frame, and some other exciting pieces which will help our learners hone their creativity, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
KinderGrad Photos
Our kindergarten team recently distributed the schedule for KindefrGrad photos which will be captured on Wednesday, March 20, 2019. Please ensure that you familiarize yourself with the schedule so you are aware of which time slot is for your surname.
School Closure
Please note that we are closed on Monday, March 18, 2019 in observance of St. Patrick’s Day.
KinderStart
Our third (of four) KinderStart sessions is set for Friday, March 22, 2019. Classes have been cancelled for our current Kindergarten classes on this day.
The Little Mermaid
Great news! All of our learners in kindergarten and grade one will travel to the Holy Heart Theatre on Friday, April 5, 2019 to take in Holy Heart’s production of “The Little Mermaid”. Further details (including cost and permission slips) will be coming home in the next little while. We are awaiting a decision on a grant for which we have applied to cover the bussing costs associated with this venture; once we get word we will send everything out.
