There seem to be some issues with our e-mails going through since Wednesday of this week past and we’re unsure as to the cause/solution. If you receive this one, please alert your friends and neighbours to see if they have as well. There have been some instances where they have gone to “Junk” or “Spam” but there are other instances where they have just not been delivered. In the interim, we will post this to our school’s website to ensure a wider reach.
Scholastic Book Fair
Our Book Fair begins on Monday, October 21, 2019 and runs until Friday, October 25, 2019 The Scholastic Book Fair gives Beachy Cove Elementary the opportunity to bring our students, teachers, families and books together. It is a wonderful community literacy event!
Our special Family Event is Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 6:00-8:00pm.

Thanksgiving Holiday
We will be closed on Monday, October 14, 2019 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Recycling Blitz
Our recycling blitzes occur every Tuesday morning at the recycling shed in our “Kiss n’ Ride” drop off lane. We accept donations of recyclable beverage containers that have been bagged – all you need to do is drop them off and we take care of the rest.Date Changes
Please note that the date for the Kindergarten Christmas concert has moved to Friday, December 13, 2019 at 1:00pm and the date for the Kindergarten year-end celebration has been moved to Wednesday, June 17, 2019.
Food Drive
Thank you to all of our families who generously donated to our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive in support of the Community Food Sharing Association. It was a huge success. Our school’s contribution along with those other schools in our region will go a long way in putting food on the table of those less fortunate.
Kids Eat Smart Breakfast Club
Our KES Breakfast Club hosted a special Thanksgiving breakfast for our learners today where they served up French toast and sausages. We extend our thanks and appreciation to all of our breakfast club volunteers who put so much time and effort into getting this organized and executed.
School Closures
Please be reminded about our first school closures for professional development for this school year. It is set for Tuesday, October 29, 2019. The next PD day for which our school will be closed is set for Friday, November 22, 2019 followed by Friday, December 6, 2019.
We will also close at 11:00am on Thursday, December 5, 2019 to allow for parent-teacher interviews (details to follow).
Field Trips
There are lots of field trips occurring this fall. Please remember to submit signed permission forms promptly as we don’t want to be placed in a position where we have to deny our learners the opportunity to participate because we don’t have a signed form. Verbal permission over the telephone is no longer acceptable.
Hallowe’en Parties
We will celebrate Hallowe’en on Thursday, October 31, 2019 during the last hour of the school day.
As you begin the annual process of sourcing costumes, please bear in mind that we cannot permit costumes of a violent or sexual nature in our school and any props should be small, safe, unobtrusive and not represent violence (i.e., guns, etc.).
We are not in a position to accept class sets of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, loot bags, treat bags, etc. at our Hallowe’en Parties; we spend far too much time passing them out and they cause a tremendous mess for our cleaning staff. And, most importantly, we can never be too careful with allergens – far better to be safe than sorry.
Letters for Canada Revenue Agency
We have many instances where CRA will do random audits of our families in receipt of the Child Tax Benefit in which families are expected to get a letter from their children’s school which outlines addresses on file and start dates at the school.
Please be advised that in we can only provide information that we can confirm as it exists in PowerSchool on the day of the request. We are unable to confirm historical data due to the limitations of our current version of PowerSchool.
If you find yourself in this situation, we encourage you to explore the other options that the CRA makes available to you.
