Turkey Dinner Option
Our cafeteria staff will be serving a hot turkey dinner for those interested on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at a cost of $6.75.  The meal includes turkey, mashed potatoes, sliced carrots, and gravy along with a milk and a cookie/muffin.  If your child(ren) would like to avail of this option, please send along the correct change with a note that indicates your child(ren)’s name(s) and marked “Christmas Dinner”.  Please note that the deadline to order is Thursday, December 5, 2019. [This meal option cannot be ordered online and no other meal options will be available for lunch on this day.]

Last year’s dinner was a resounding success – everyone seemed to enjoy it very much.

Delayed Openings
We will, in all likelihood, at some point this winter experience a delayed opening due to weather and/or road conditions.  Please note that on days we are delayed from opening at our normal time, cafeteria service will not be available for recess and lunch.  When we are delayed, there is simpy not enough lead time for Effie and her staff to have everything prepared in time.

Term I Progress Reports
Tomorrow is an exciting day at Beachy Cove!  It’s the day we distribute our progress reports for term I.  Please be on the lookout for these important documents.

Part of this reporting process is our parent-teacher intereviews scheduled for Thursday, December 5, 2019.  Thank you to the hundreds of our parents/families who have already scheduled their parent-teacher interviews.  If you have not yet scheduled yours, please click here.

Field Trips
Our grade one learners will be attending a session with storytelling artist/puppeteer, Andy Jones at The Rooms on Friday, December 13, 2019.  Our grade three learners will take in some of the International Sledge Hockey Tournament in Paradise on Wednesday, December 4, 2019.

Permission forms and other details will be coming home in the next day or so.  Please ensure that the paper copy of your permission forms are returned promptly.  We are no longer permitted to accept permision over the telephone and we would not want to be placed in a position where we have to deny participation because we don’t have written permission.

School Closures
Please note that we will close at 11:00am on Thursday, December 5, 2019 to allow for parent-teacher interviews.  We are also closed on Friday, December 6, 2019 for teacher professional development.

Christmas Concerts
In the event that we are closed for weather on the day of our grade one Christmas concert (Wednesday, December 11, 2019), we will run it on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the same time.

Similarly, should we be closed on Friday, December 13, 2019, the day of our kindergarten concert, we will run it on Monday, December 16, 2019 at the same time.

Tickets are now available for these concerts.  They can be purchased by sending along a note to your child’s teacher with the number of tickets you’d like.  Due to our large numbers, tickets for both our kindergarten and grade one concerts are limited to four per learner.  Any extra tickets will be available for purchase on the day of the concert.

Christmas Collection
Continuing our efforts to instill values around community service, we have selected the Thrive Community Network as our charity for Christmas giving again this year. The Thrive Community Network is a local organization that was established in 2001 as part of the province’s Community Youth Networks. The mandate of this organization is to provide services and support to resilient youth and young adults who live in poverty with limited access to mainstream programs and services.

Thrive is looking for new personal care items and stocking stuffers in order to give holiday stockings to its members at their annual Christmas dinner. They are specifically looking for men’s and women’s deodorant, body wash/soap, shampoo/conditioner, razors, shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, men’s and women’s socks, individual tissue packs, lip balms, laundry pods, warm hats, stretch gloves, hand warmers, and/or Sobey’s/Tim Horton gift cards of $5 or $10 values.

We will be accepting donations up to and including Thursday, December 5, 2019 at which point we will deliver our collection.

Let’s show this organization our best generosity ever and support them in their efforts to shape the lives of these youth and young adults.

Early Closure for Christmas
Please note that we will close at 12:30pm on Friday, December 20, 2019 for our Christmas vacation. Cafeteria service will not be available for recess or lunch on this day.
