Chapters Night
Our annual “BCE Night at Chapters” is set for Wednesday, November 28, 2018. This event gets underway at 7:00pm and 20% of all sales that evening will go towards books for our library learning commons.  This event has traditionally been a wonderful family event that is always well attended.  So, come on along and get a Starbucks coffee (or tea!) and browse the bookstore for some special Christmas gifts.  Please remember to indicate that your purchase is “for” Beachy Cove so that we get credited with 20% of the sale.

Library Learning Commons Redesign
Thanks to one of our parents skilled in computer drawings, Craig Putt, we are one step closer to beginning the redesign of our Library Learning Commons.  Mr. Putt will “draw” out the footprint of our available space so that we can toy with different arrangements of bookshelves and other essential elements of a modern library learning commons.  Thanks, Mr. Putt!  We appreciate you doing this for us.

Bookshelf Painting
We didn’t get a response to our call to have our bookshelves painted to add some colour to our library learning commons.  If you can assist us in getting our six metal shelves painted, please send an e-mail to our Teacher-Librarian, Roxanne Penney.

Cookies and Milk with Santa
Our Kids Eat Smart Breakfast Club will be hosting “Cookies and Milk” with Santa here at Beachy Cove Elementary on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 1:00pm-4:00pm.  This event will take place in our school gym.  Order forms for tickets will be sent home next week.  Tickets cost $10 per family (maximum of five people per ticket).

Concurrent with the event with Santa, the Breakfast Club volunteers will host a bake sale in our cafeteria along with a 50/50 draw.

All funds raised from these events will go towards our own Kids Eat Smart Breakfast Club Program.

Parent-Teacher Interviews
Our first term is rapidly drawing to a close and that means the time is almost nigh for parent-teacher interviews.  These have been set for Thursday, December 6, 2018 and are by appointment only.  To make your appointment, please click here to access the online scheduler.

Craft and Vendor Fair
Some of our students are attending “Dance the World 2019” in Orlando with their dance school.  They are hosting a “Christmas In the Cove” craft and vendor fair on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 10:00am-4:00pm.  It will be held at St. Lawrence Parish Hall and admission costs $2.  They have 25-30 vendors on hand along with a canteen, door prize, activities for children, and Christmas photo minis.

 Advance Notice – Christmas Collection

Continuing our efforts to instill values around community service, we have selected the Thrive Community Network as our charity for Christmas giving this year.  The Thrive Community Network is a local organization that was established in 2001 as part of the province’s Community Youth Networks.  The mandate of this organization is to provide services and support to resilient youth and young adults who live in poverty with limited access to mainstream programs and services.

Thrive is looking for new personal care items and stocking stuffers in order to give holiday stockings to its members at their annual Christmas dinner.  They are specifically looking for men’s and women’s deodorant, body wash/soap, shampoo/conditioner, razors, shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, men’s and women’s socks, individual tissue packs, lip balms, laundry pods, warm hats, stretch gloves, hand warmers, and/or Sobey’s/Tim Horton gift cards of $5 or $10 values.

We will be accepting donations up to and including Friday, December 14, 2018 at which point we will deliver our collection.

Let’s show this organization our best generosity ever and support them in their efforts to shape the lives of these youth and young adults.
