School Closure
Please be reminded that our school will be closed on Friday, November 22, 2019 for teacher professional development.

Elves on Shelves
Please do not send your “Elf” from your “Elf on the Shelf” to school with your child(ren).  Having them at school causes tremendous difficulties for us when they get lost or damaged and we know that they are valuable to your family traditions.  At this frenetic time of the year, we sincerely thank you for your cooperation in this matter! 😉

Kids Eat Smart Breakfast Club – HELP WANTED
As you can appreciate, the task of running a breakfast club for a school as large as ours is an onerous one that falls to a small group of very dedicated volunteers.  Given the growing success of our club, it is important for us to continue to recruit some volunteers to help us out.  We are currently seeking volunteers to assist with shopping for groceries (typcially at Costco) in accordance with our breakfast menu.  If you can spare an hour or two once a month or so, please send a note to our Breakfast Club Coordinator, Cheri Butler.  The continued success of our breakfast program depends wholly on our volunteer capacity; please consider helping us out.

Breakfast Club – Cookies with Santa
Our KES Breakfast club will host “Cookies with Santa” again this year.  This event gets underway at 1:00pm (running from 1:00pm-4:00pm) on Saturday, November 30, 2019.  There will also be a bake sale, fruit stand, 50/50 draw, a cake raffle and more.  The draw for Mrs. Churchill’s framed cross stitched artwork, “The Song of Christmas”, will take place at this event.  Please come on along and bring your camera and take your child(ren)’s picture with Santa.  Admission is $10.00 per family.

Parent-Teacher Interviews
School will close at 11:00am on Thursday, December 5, 2019 to facilitate our first series of parent-teacher interviews.  To make an appointment to see your child(ren)’s teacher, please click here.

In keeping with past practice, cafeteria service will not be available for recess on this day.

Christmas Collection (You can send these along whenever you have your donation ready!)
Continuing our efforts to instill values around community service, we have selected the Thrive Community Network as our charity for Christmas giving this year. The Thrive Community Network is a local organization that was established in 2001 as part of the province’s Community Youth Networks. The mandate of this organization is to provide services and support to resilient youth and young adults who live in poverty with limited access to mainstream programs and services.

Thrive is looking for new personal care items and stocking stuffers in order to give holiday stockings to its members at their annual Christmas dinner. They are specifically looking for men’s and women’s deodorant, body wash/soap, shampoo/conditioner, razors, shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, men’s and women’s socks, individual tissue packs, lip balms, laundry pods, warm hats, stretch gloves, hand warmers, and/or Sobey’s/Tim Horton gift cards of $5 or $10 values.

We will be accepting donations up to and including Thursday, December 5, 2019 at which point we will deliver our collection.

Let’s show this organization our best generosity ever and support them in their efforts to shape the lives of these youth and young adults.
