Rule of Thumb: Delayed Openings
In the event of a delayed opening due to weather or other related cause, cafeteria service will NOT be available when we reopen. Should we experience delays, please ensure that you send along a lunch for your child(ren). (If you placed a lunch order online, you may carry your order over to another day. Please send a note in a baggie when you wish to use your credit.)
Parent-Teacher Interviews
Please remember that we will close at 11:00am on Thursday, December 6, 2018 to facilitate our parent-teacher interviews which get underway at 11:30am. If you haven’t yet made an appointment, you can do so by clicking here.
Christmas Collection
Continuing our efforts to instil values around community service, we have selected the Thrive Community Network as our charity for Christmas giving this year. The Thrive Community Network is a local organization that was established in 2001 as part of the province’s Community Youth Networks. The mandate of this organization is to provide services and support to resilient youth and young adults who live in poverty with limited access to mainstream programs and services.
Thrive is looking for new personal care items and stocking stuffers in order to give holiday stockings to its members at their annual Christmas dinner. They are specifically looking for men’s and women’s deodorant, body wash/soap, shampoo/conditioner, razors, shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, men’s and women’s socks, individual tissue packs, lip balms, laundry pods, warm hats, stretch gloves, hand warmers, and/or Sobey’s/Tim Horton gift cards of $5 or $10 values.
We will be accepting donations up to and including Friday, December 14, 2018 at which point we will deliver our collection.
Let’s show this organization our best generosity ever and support them in their efforts to shape the lives of these youth and young adults.
Cafeteria: Turkey Dinner
Our cafeteria operator, Chartwells, will have as its only daily special on December 13, 2018, a turkey dinner. The dinner will consist of festive roast turkey, gravy, stuffing, whipped potatoes, vegetables, a cookie and a small milk or juice and comes at a cost of $6.25.
These dinners must be pre-ordered by Friday, December 7, 2018. If you wish to order one for your child, please place the correct change in a baggie/envelope along with a note indicating your child’s name and his/her teacher’s name. This must be kept separate from any other money submissions as it will go directly to Chartwells staff.
You should also note that this is the only offering for lunch on this day; should your child normally order from the cafeteria for lunch, you will have to pack a lunch from home if they don’t wish to have the turkey dinner. Recess orders will go ahead as usual.
Cookies with Santa
Our Kids Eat Smart Breakfast Club is hosting a “Cookies with Santa” event this coming Saturday from 1:00pm. Tickets for this event are on sale for $10 per family (up to five people). The club is also hosting a bake sale in our cafeteria during this time (no admission fee). If you would like to purchase tickets, please send along your order to the school.
Christmas Concert Tickets
Tickets for our upcoming Christmas concerts are now on sale through your child’s teacher on the basis of four per learner for kindergarten and two per learner in grades one and three. We will sell any extra tickets during the morning of each concert if they become available.
Please remember that our doors will open for our concerts at 12:30pm.
School Closure
We will close at 12:30pm on Friday, December 21, 2018 for our Christmas vacation; we will reopen on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 8:30am.
